Here are a few of the many help guides I wrote for the Volume Licensing group at Microsoft. I was the only editor and writer in the Volume Licensing group for several years, updating and writing new help guides about Microsoft's licensing tools. These tools are important because IT pros use them to license tens of billions of dollars worth of Microsoft software and services every year.
Help topics
I wrote hundreds of help topics about how to use Windows when I was a senior writer on the Microsoft Windows User Assistance team. Here are four sample help topics.
Blog writing
I wrote many blog posts for different teams at Microsoft, including the Microsoft Store team, Microsoft Azure team, and Microsoft Developer Network. I also spent two years writing dozens of blog posts for the global trade association for Bluetooth technology (including many posts I ghost-wrote for their executive director.) Here are some examples.
Marketing writing
For more than two years I was web marketing manager for the global trade association for Bluetooth technology, writing virtually all web marketing content for the Bluetooth SIG. Here are some samples. I've also written many marketing headlines and briefs for Microsoft.
Technical writing
I spent several years writing and updating technical help guides for IT pros at large companies that use Microsoft's volume licensing applications. These customers use these apps to purchase billions of dollars worth annually of Microsoft software and services. Here are some of the technical licensing guides I wrote. I also wrote a dozen technical blog posts for the Microsoft Azure team in 2019, with some samples here.
Style guide
I wrote this style guide for the Volume Licensing group at Microsoft to help the group standardize and improve the UI text and help content for their volume licensing applications. I spent several years as a writer in the Volume Licensing group, responsible for all the UI text and help content in their licensing apps, which IT pros use to license billions of dollars of software and services annually from Microsoft.
Video & demo scripts
Here are some of the scripts I wrote for help videos and demos I helped create for Microsoft. I also captured video sequences to go with these videos and worked with outside video experts (vendors) who produced the final videos.
User interface (UI) text
For years I edited and wrote UI text for Volume Licensing applications and websites at Microsoft. Here are some examples. These slide decks show how I collaborated with designers to improve the UI text in the Microsoft Store for Business after it launched in 2015.
